Spending several years as a direct care provider, Sadonna Rogers Mitchell saw one too many people being mistreated by companies who cared only about money. That convinced her to create a new kind of company.

A pivotal moment came after checking on an elderly resident, and being floored when she found the woman living in filth.

She recalls “I was so angry because this sweet woman had paid caregivers to take care of her, and her out-of-state family believed she was in good hands. I couldn’t believe the lack of care she was receiving. I knew that I didn’t want to work for a company that would treat any person that way! That’s when I decided to start S and L, where we treat residents like family—like we treat our own parents or even our children. We ensure that our residents live with dignity and are shown the respect they deserve.”

While Sadonna Rogers Mitchell has the training—including her CNA Training Certificate, CPR and First-Aid Certificate, and Recipient Rights Certificate—and nearly 9 years of hands-on experience, what sets her and her company apart is how much she truly cares about her residents. Whether it is inviting residents into her home so they won’t be alone for the holidays or providing around the clock care for patients who need it most, Sadonna Rogers Mitchell proves time and time again that her residents’ happiness and well-being are her No. 1 priorities.
